From Floripa hitching south take a Bus to Palhoca and go to the last station, it is close to the BR101 and there is also a gasstation!―Anonymous

I went to Posto Catarinão and talked to some workers and truck drivers about a ride to Porto Alegre (south). Very difficult to get a ride going South. After that, I waited on the hard shouder for 40 min (maybe more), so I decided to walk 4 km to South until PRF (Polícia Rodoviária Federal) station. After 10 min waiting, I got a ride straight to Porto Alegre.―Chlange25

Posto Catarinão. You can get here by public bus from Terminal Centro in Florianópolis (the end of platform C). Good spot for hitching south to Porto Alegre. Ask around or hitch on the merge lane of the entrance to the motorway.―Anonymous

There is an Ipiranga gas station on the right side of the road for hitching towards the interior. You may want to take a bus from Florianopolis suburban bus terminal (the price was BRL 5 in january 2015).―Anonymous
